Busy July ahead for Ali Carter: 2011 Wuxi Classic, Snooker World Cup, Australian Goldfields Open
The new snooker season has kicked off with a bang as June saw the commencement of Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1. England’s Ali Carter is looking forward for a positive result in the events
coming in July. He is due to play at China in 2011 Wuxi Classic followed by his flight to Bangkok for 2011 Snooker World Cup and then he’ll move to Australia to take part in 2011 Australian Goldfields Open.
Carter has a really busy July schedule as he has a couple of important tournaments to play. He has practised well and has warmed himself up for these events by participating in the first event of
PTC. He reached the third round of PTC 1, where he lost to Robbie Williams 2-4.
His next stop is Wuxi Sports centre in China where he will take part in a non-ranking event of 2011 Wuxi Classic. He is seeded in quarter-final stage along with Shaun Murphy, Ding Junhui and his snooker
world cup partner, Mark Selby. The tournament will commence from Thursday, July 7 to Sunday, July 10.
Carter has two snooker events in Asia, Wuxi Classic and 2011 Snooker World Cup, in July. The 31-year-old hasn’t played in Asia for long but in 2010 he participated in Shanghai Masters. He believes
he can win tournaments in Asia this time as he has got confidence.
While speaking to the media, Carter said, "I had a poor record in Asia until last season when I won the Shanghai Masters. I've got more confidence playing out there now and I know I can win tournaments."
He added, "It's exciting to be playing in a team event as it's something I've never done before. You don't want to let your opponent down. I've got a very strong partner in Mark Selby and we both
know the other will be giving everything to win."
The upcoming Snooker World Cup 2011 will be a real test for Carter as he has not played a team event before. However, playing alongside a player like Mark Selby will surely boost his performance and
the pair should make a good team.
Carter will fly to Australia after the world cup where he will be part of the very first high ranking tournament in the country, 2011 Australian Goldfields Open. The Captain is drawn against Scotsman,
Marcus Campbell, in the first round of the event.
