Busy schedule no excuse for poor performance, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913 – Cricket News Update
Having lost the on-going One Day International (ODI) series by one game to three, with the last match still to be played, Angelo Mathews, the Sri Lankan all-rounder, thinks that busy schedule cannot be called an excuse for his side’s
debacle in the competition.
Over the last 18 months, the Islanders have been consistently playing international cricket, without much of a rest. Some of the critics believe that the hectic itinerary has lead to the deterioration in Sri Lanka’s performance, although

On the other side of the coin, after the triangular series in Australia, the Indian team only played the Asia Cup 2012 before taking on the Lankan Tigers. Mathews feel that the break has rejuvenated the Men in Blue, who were struggling
to deliver the goods last year, being whitewashed in Test series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
The all-rounder confessed that every player needs a break to regain his energies but refused to make it an excuse for poor performance.
"We're all professionals and we play the game with busy schedules. It's certainly not an excuse. It's always better to have a few days off. We really haven't had a long break in the last one and half years. Yes, I think it [the break]
has helped them [http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750] to freshen up," the 25-year-old cricketer said.
Talking about http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dinesh-c54134 Chandimal’s bad run of form in the series so far, managing merely 47 runs in four matches, the cricketer from Colombo expressed that every player can go through a slump but he is confident that the wicketkeeper/batsman
will bounce back to form in style.
"We don't try to distract him with too much talking. He's a player who can always come back and do his part. He's shown lots of character,” the all-rounder expressed. “A player can fail in three four innings but a guy like Chandimal
will always come back."
The last ODI will be followed by the only T20 International of the tour at Pallekele on August 7th, which gives the home team a chance to regain some pride.
