The Ligue 1 giants are in for some really tough times when the season ends but Vincent Labrune wants to ensure that Olympique de Marseille remains an attractive club
Forced to sell in order to bail out, Olympique de Marseille still aspire to remain an exciting proposition in French football. The Rhone giants just can’t wait for the 2011/2012 campaign to end. Undermined by poor performance and a dressing room where the
atmosphere is far from looking friendly, Les Phoceens are also not sure what they will be facing next season.
However, one thing remains certain: the Rhone club will have to part with some of their star players. Though some of those players have casted their lot on the club, La Provence claims that there will be many comings and goings in the summer transfer window.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 international Andre Ayew. The gifted winger
has said that he wants to stay at the club but could be allowed to leave especially if the likes of Fenerbahce, Bayern Munich, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 or Juventus come up with good concrete proposals.
However, the Ghanaian will not be sold for anything less than 18 million Euros. For his part, playmaker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Valbuena-c24690 might be re-enlisted for at least one more campaign.
OM also want to reduce the burden on the payroll and will consider letting go of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alou-Diarra-c5259 and Andre-Pierre Gignac. The latter has been a drain on the club’s finances and Marseille are keen on ending their relationship with the striker.
Jeremy Morel might also be asked to leave while the likes of Brandao, Andrade, Sabo and Traore, players whose contracts will expire this June, will either not be given extensions or will chose to seek employment elsewhere.
In terms of arrivals, Les Phoceens have refused to be pessimistic.
“OM is an institution that goes beyond the coach. Even without Champions League, everyone wants to join OM, a prestigious club that represents progress in a career,” says an OM official.
