Question:

Butane Lighter - Not Holding a Flame?

by  |  earlier

I have had this butane lighter for about six years. It just recently stopped producing a flame.

I have tried turning the pressure way down and slowly going up and kept going until there was just too much pressure to even ignite.

When I press to ignite, i can see the spark, and there is a small flame, but it will not sustain.

(And yes... there IS fuel inside)

Any quick tips/suggestions? (besides getting a new lighter, which I will eventually do anyway)

  1. I might just add to make sure any ventilation holes around don't have lint blocking that would impede the designed air mixture.

It could be that some debris has gotten into the valve and is restricting it from inside. Maybe has gotten in when refilling.
