My horse has a swollen leg.Vet gave me some buste paste(equiphen paste ) to put in her mouth. I cannot get it into her mouth. It says her mouth has to be empty and food gone before i put it in. I need to get this in asap as her leg is swelling. Can I put it in her feed?(She is wild)

  1. If she's that wild that you can't get the paste into her, Ask the vet if you can trade the paste for pills. Then you soak the pills in a SMALL amount of hot water, add in some molasses when they have disolved and then pour it over her feed.

  2. if the horse will not allow you to put it  in its mouth, squirt it over some of its favourite food and add molasses or something sweet...brown sugar if you have to....I bet it will eat it up then.

  3. You can mix in applesauce with some cinnamon, or mushed banana, or molasses with grain.  Unless your bute is apple flavored  - it tastes horrible! Make sure you don't give her more than 2 gms at one time. Best to give 1 gm in the AM and 1 in the pm. It is hard on their stomach. Good luck!
