Bute’s Trainer: Lucian Bute will not ankle infection as an excuse if he loses – Boxing News
According to Lucian Bute’s trainer Stephan Larouche, Lucian Bute will not use his recent ankle infection as an excuse if he loses to hometown favourite Carl Froch. Bute and Froch will go head to head tonight in Nottingham for Bute’s super middleweight title.
Bute currently is unbeaten with 30 wins on his hands. Twenty-four of his wins have come in via knockout. This will be the first time the Montreal star will defend his title outside his hometown. The fight is scheduled to be held at the Capital FM Arena in
Nottingham, England. Froch, who stands with 28 wins, 2 losses and 20 knockouts, is coming off a loss to Andre Ward last year in the Super Six World Boxing Classic finale.
While talking about the infection, Bute’s trainer iterated, “Lucian had two blisters. Lucian kept telling me, 'I'm having a little bit more pain in this one,' and I kept telling him, 'Well, it's not the end of the world,' until one day, he had some blood
coming out of it, and the blood was not nice colors. So we lead him to the doctors. The doctors said had he not come to see [them], you're going to lose your [big] toe. It's a major infection and the infection was up to the ankle.”
When asked about the current condition of the infection, Larouche said, “Everything has disappeared. He has no more infection. We cannot even see it no more, so he's bouncing as he used to. Perfect feet right now. It's not going to be a toe story.”
This fight is important for both the pugilists. Froch needs to prove he still is the outstanding Brit fighter most fans have their bids on, while Bute needs to prove he can win away from home as well. However, Bute will be under pressure since Froch’s home
crowd can be hostile towards him.
Earlier this week, Bute claimed that the pressure from the crowd would not distract him. However, Froch believes that the support he will get from his fans will be his strength to beat Bute.
