The former Los Blancos' striker stated that the Madrid giants played well against Malaga despite their defeat and thinks that the title race is not over yet.
Emilio Butragueno is a former Real Madrid player and he has gone on to record his comments on Real Madrid’s recent game against 4th placed Malaga in La Liga.
The Spanish champions had to travel to La Rosaleda, for a match that was very important to keep their feeble title hopes alive, but the result did not turn out to be a pleasant one for the champions.
Malaga sealed all three points from the tie and inflicted further misery on the holding champions, as their already detracting season was served with yet another heavy blow.
Isco opened the scoring for the home side as he powered in a finish form the edge of the area, sending the home fans into raptures.
Karim Benzema then was fortunate and forced an equaliser from defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Sanchez to put the Madrid side back in to the game on level terms.
Striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778, then turned to be the hero for the home side and a villain for Jose Mourinho’s men as he scored twice in the second period, and took the game away from the Madrid giants.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 then again scored to give the away side a hope of rescuing something from the match, but the high-flying Malaga were taking none of it and saw the match out, despite some heavy knocking-at-the-door from Real.
Despite the defeat, the former Madrid striker believes that title is not over yet, and he was happy with the performance of his old team.
“We are unexpectedly very far away [from the top of the table] but that does not mean the team is not going to fight every game," the 49-year-old Spaniard told Realmadrid.com.

"The first half was remarkable and the team should have gone to the dressing room 2-0 up, but the second half was very good," he stated.

"It's a step back we did not expect. You have to lift your head and prepare the remainder of the season. Now they go on vacation and then we will have to think about next year."
Real are now 16 points off the pace from table toppers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and it would need a miracle for them to retain their already disappearing crown.
