Salman Butt vows to make comeback
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 skipper Salman Butt, who has been facing spot-fixing allegations for the past few months, has expressed his love for cricket and has insisted upon his resolve to make a comeback.
He was of the view that despite the hardships he has been facing and the way some people have attempted to defame him, his love for the sport hasn’t diminished even a bit. However, it is also a fact that if the player is proven guilty, it would end
his professional career for good.
Salman Butt along with fellow team-mates Mohammad Aamir and Mohammad Asif, are being investigated by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) anti-corruption unit in the context of the spot-fixing allegations put forward by the the players
former agent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed, after the fourth Test match against England at Lords in August.
Right after the allegations were published by British tabloid News of the World, the trio was suspended and a formal investigation was launched by the ICC’s anti corruption unit. Now a decisive verdict is being expected in a hearing which is going
to take place in Doha next month. While all of the players are denying the charges against them, the ICC tribunal will analyse the severity of the charges and will announce its decision regarding the fate of the players.
Although the ICC has warned that it will take stern actions against anyone who will be found guilty of corruption, however Butt is of the view that at least his cricket career is not at all in danger.
Butt was upbeat while responding to a question about whether he was worried about the prospect of never being able to play again, in case the verdict goes against him. The left-handed opener said, “I would certainly not like to think like that. I still
remain positive and I know what I am made of and where I have come from, and how I have played my cricket. Believe me, it has been a passion all throughout my life.”
“The love of the game has got me there and that love is bigger than anything, any corrupt thing, which exists,” the former skipper added.
According to reports, an independent tribunal will hear the cases of the suspended trio in Doha. The hearing will take place from 6 to 11 January 2011.
