  1. Buttercups have bright yellow petals.  This suggests that the flowers are insect pollinated because the brightness of the petals attracts the insects.  

    Wind-pollinated plants have very small or nonexistent petals.


  2. Adding to the insect hypothosys, the insect that does pollinate this flower is probably a larger insect that lands on the flower to feed due to the large open nature of the flower. There is enough room and support for an insect such as a bee or butterfly to land comfortably and find the nectar easily.

    Unlike a red tubular flower that would best be adapted to hummingbirds or hovering moths.
