  1. Nooo...get a cat. Butterflies should be butterflies in their natural habitat.

  2. You can order kits from this site - they ship with live caterpillars so you can watch the transformation...waaay cool!  =)

  3. Interesting choice of pets.  You may have difficulty feeding them.

  4. Butterflies die in a week .

    if im not wrong .

    they cant live for long!!

  5. if you absolutely want to see something cool, between June/July, young monarch caterpillars are around and they are awesome to watch grow and make a chrysalis and come out as a butterfly.

i used to do this and then release them after a week... they need to migrate and are endangered so it's not a good idea to keep them.

ever since I have done that (i have also planted milkweed in the area) the number of butterflies that come back and breed has increased every year...

to take care of them you need...

    - 5-10 gallon aquarium with lid

    - a small bag of potting soil

    - a source of milkweed

    - a sponge and shallow dish to fit the sponge in (for the butterflies)

    - a misting bottle for watering milkweed that is still fresh (every second day)

    - a couple of flowers to plant for the butterflies as well (caterpillars will eat these in no time)

the sponge is for when the butterflies come out of the chrysalis. you mix some lukewarm water with about two tablespoons of sugar, dissolve and absorb it with the sponge, put the sponge in the shallow dish and it's an amazing treat for butterflies :)

I also forgot to say, make sure the sponge is not too porous but has visible pores...

Hope this helps and you should release the butterflies or they will die in captivity...
