Question:

Butterflies in the stomach on roller coasters normal???

I have emetophobia, a fear of vomiting, and so roller coasters and big drops make me nervous. However I wanna have fun and try some, maybe a mild one though at first.

Is the butterflies in the stomach feeling normal on every coaster and does it happen with each drop or just the first one and then you get used to it? Is this actually a feeling of nausea? Any way to avoid this feeling? My husband swears he never gets this feeling on coasters and he rides all of them...I do know he puts his hands in the air during the drops. Is this what works? I don't think I can bring myself to do this though, I think I would hold on for dear life at least the first time riding! Should I start slow, like the mine train coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure? What are really the odds of throwing up on a roller coaster? Slim right? How do you feel when you get off of one? Could you eat right away or you feel queasy? Can't do spinning rides but neither can my husband & he loves all coasters!

  1. Oh I get it all the time, and I love rollercoasters. I've been on 200foot drops and 10 foot drops, and no matter what the size I'm always nervous looking at the bottom. But then I ride, the adrenaline comes, and I have loads of fun.

You don't have to put your hands up in the air. Some people like to do it just to show they're brave, but I find it terrifying.

Usually when I get off I feel shaky but super excited from the adrenaline.

  2. i get butterflies in my stomach everytime im about to get on a rollercoaster but never throw up! its really fun too!

  3. alot of people get this sensation! that is the thrill of riding roller coasters! i have personally never witnessed some1 throw up after a roller coaster, but to be on the safe side, start on somthing slower, than build ur self up.

  4. Don't worry at all about the butterflies feeling.

It's the adrenaline kicking into your system that gives you that nervous feeling.

I hate vomiting too, and I get that feeling on just about every rollercoaster. Once you've been on the ride a few times, the feeling settles down, so don't worry!

I love putting my hands in the air, but only on certain rides. I'm deffinately one of the few people who generally hold on tight!

The way I feel when I get off a rollercoaster is actually a brilliant feeling. You feel kind of invincible, like you've accomplished something and you want the whole world to know! And it's awesome because the adrenaline stays with you for a while after and gives you that boost to go on more rides!!

I wouldn't recommend eating before going on any sort of rollercoaster, whether little of not. Wait at least 15-20 minutes before riding after you've eaten. I don't throw up on rides ever but I still would never eat before riding!!

Unless you're a very queasy, uneasy person who gets sick from the smallest of things, riding a rollercoaster shouldn't be to bad. I find that I feel nervous and scared before I get on, but during the ride, the adrenaline keeps me from feeling sick.

(I also find I need to go to the toilet before I get on a ride, but when I get off I no longer need to go!!!)

I hope you have a great tme when you go on your next ride, and I hope I helped you out =D

    Good Luck!!

    xx

  5. YES! that is tottaly normal. I'm pretty sure it happens to everyone the first few times they ride a ride. Some people become so used to rides they dont really notice it anymore. Like I'm that way on a few rides but not all. And no this isnt the feeling of nausea. Putting your hands up does not take the feeling away. People put thier hands up because they think it makes the ride more fun/exciteing. Yes, you should start slow. I dont go to Sixflags so i wouldnt really know. It is SUPER slim to fly out of a roller coaster seat. Your more likely to get hurt in the car than you are on a ride. For me, it depends if the ride, if it spins at all, i cant eat right after, i LOVE rides so much but if they spin i can eat. I get way to queasy on spining things to eat right after. But its different for everyone.
