My daughter wants to have a butterfly-themed birthday party but we have boys coming and I need some ideas so the boys don't feel "girly." They will all be around age five. I was thinking maybe something like caterpillars for the boys. I need ideas . . .

  1. Based on what I recall... boys at age 5 aren't as worried about being girly as that.  They are still in the age range, where they play with everyone, like there is no difference between playing trucks or dolls.  It's all the same to them.  If they are still in preschool... then I would say not to worry too much. If you give them caterpillars instead of butterflies, they might feel left out.

  2. go w/ cupcakes, some topped w/ butterflies and some topped w/ caterpillars.

let everyone make one or the other out of playdough

  3. I am really liking the caterpillar idea for the boys.. you could use sour gummy worms because they look kind of " fuzzy" or "hairy" on top of the boy's cupcakes or something else  you could do is make " dirt cakes" ( choco cupcakes with crushed oreos for the dirt) with gummy worms on top. Hope this helps :)

  4. hah maybe like another kinda of bug for the boys like........beetles or something? lol idk dragonflys?

    or spiders

  5. Yeah, caterpillars sounds like a good idea! =]

Or keep the flying-insects theme, and make them into bees. =]

  6. I think that would work great, seeing how butterflies use to be caterpillars.
