McLaren driver Jenson Button has ruled out the possibility of joining Ferrari as Fernando Alonso’s teammate, who are reported to be searching for replacement of their struggling driver Felipe Massa.
Button said that he has a very good association with the Scarlet team, however, he can’t join them as he has an agreement with the Woking based team for the next year.
“Well, uh ... there has always been contact I always say ‘hello, how are you?’ when I see Stefano Domenicali in the paddock. But he knows and I know that I have contract for next year. I really don’t know why it is focused so strongly in my direction,” said
Button.
In addition, when he was asked about his views regarding the offer from the Italian team, the British driver said that he is focussing on improving his performance in the season ahead while he admired the efforts which his team has made since its inception
in achieving competitive results.
Although, he said that he has kept his options wide open, nonetheless, he said that he is very much happy with his current team.
“Who says they did?” he reportedly smiled. “I think if you look at this team McLaren you see a team that has achieved so much. And if you look at the red team, you see the same thing. The Italians are passionate about sports, especially motor sport but this
is the right place for me now,” Button insisted.
