  1. First of all make sure TV will work there. The network and channels and things, as well as antennas, and cables and wall plugs. How easy for him will it be to work it, and get some one to repairer it when it does not work.

Then all that answered, go on line find one that fits all that. Buy it with credit card and give your fathers address as delivery. Alternatively go to a lot of TV and electrical places have discount places and Clarence stores. Buy one take it to the courier or get them to pick it up ,and send it.

  2. A British television may not work well in Germany. Although we both use the PAL system for the colour, the spacing between the sound and vision signals is different. This is shown by the suffuxes on the picture standard designation. The German system is PAL-B/G and the UK is PAL-I.

Unless the television is very clever your dad may end up being able to receive either sound or pictures but may not get both. It'll certainly be a surprise, but not the sort that you want to give him. It's a pity because televisions are cheaper here than over there.

See if one of the German international chain stores, such as LIDL or ALDI can sell you a set from one of their UK shops but deliver it from their nearest German shop to where he lives.
