Question:

Buy a winning lottery ticket?

I was leaving a local mall and someone asked me if I would help them cash a lottery ticket. It's an instant scratch off and won $1,000. The guy can't cash it because he says he has a warrant and they check SS#'s for anyone who wins more than $250. He doesn't want to tell his family or friends. He wants me to buy the ticket from him for $500 and cash it as if it were my own. I checked out the game online and it looks legit. I gave him my cell and he's been calling me constantly! Should I just go for it? Looks like an easy $500.

  1. if possible, get the money 1st then pay him,

    or else

i don't believe the not wanting to tell his family and friends part at all. that just seems like scam to me. and obviously you are not 100% sure if the ticket is real, or you wouldn't be asking here.

  2. Just in the off chance it's a real ticket, stop and consider:

    1) He admits he's wanted by the police

    2) He wants to hide the money from his family

Is this really someone you want to get invoilved in a shady transaction with? (Plus, even if it's legit, sounds like you'd be on the hook for taxes on the whole grand...)

  3. Sounds like a scam to me.....fake ticket.  Don't do it unless he agrees to have you cash it first.

  4. just get it and get your money first.   Then stay out his sight.

  5. Be careful, but the heck with it , say yes and get his ticket .Tell him to wait outside the store , cash it (to see if its legit) once you get the money  and see that 1,000 then get your 500 and call it a day . This way you get the 500 from his 1000.

Make sure your accompanied by someone in case this person is a physco.

    Good luck.
