  1. If you were buying a PC, you would be spending $200 anyway. But no, it is not worth an extra $200 for a 2.4GHz over a 2.1GHz processor, as long as they both have the same number of cores. For example if they are both Core 2 Duos then dont buy the 2.4GHz processor. However if the 2.1GHz processor is an Intel Celereon(Single core), for example, it is much wiser to buy the Core 2 Duo(Dual core) for an extra $200.

  2. If u are in entertainment or graphics designing profession then only go for Mac. otherwise u will be boared with Mac.

  3. bb, before answering your question, you need to validate with yourself what you are going to use the MacBook for.  Once you do that, it's simple to choose the laptop that's right for you.

If all you're doing is using it for school, or websurfing, playing DVDs chatting-you will not notice the difference between 2.1 & 2.4 GHZ.

However if you intend of using it for graphics, film editing, photo graphics, or are a musician, or want to mix video, music, pictures; the minimum you will require is 2.0 GHZ.  At this point I can tell you, the difference between 2.1 and 2.4GHZ computers are how  fast they will be able to complete operations.  If you expect to be spending a lot of time performing these higher level functions, than you will need the 2.4.  However if you will be doing those functions here and there, the 2.1 GHZ should be fine.

So, in answering your question, yes the 2.4GHZ is worth it.  When you crack the $1,000 laptop level,  Macs do gain the advantage with their OS, additional iLife software (a $200 value), fewer steps to perform tasks, faster log on and off time and a customizable laptop you can tailor to suit your personal preferences.  If you are a student, you can also get a $299 iTouch iPod for free. Crashes are pretty remote.  Also understand that the 2.4GHZ also comes with an additional 1 GB of RAM.  One of the things all computer makers try to do is give you two separate RAM sticks instead of a single RAM stick.  This means if you need additional RAM, you will have to throw away 1 GB of RAM.  So if you do buy the 2.4 ask to have a single 2GB RAM chip rather than two separate 1 GB RAM chips.  If you do that, you will not have to flush the RAM stick if you need more memory.  There are plenty of 1 GB RAM Sticks on the open market from people who have already upgraded.  I had a friend who told the Apple store he wanted no RAM and told the sale people, he wanted to buy a 2GB RAM stick for a reputable vendor that was same quality and a lot cheaper that apple.  Apple then agreed to install a 2GB RAM stick at the same price they would sell a 2GB computer with 2 separate sticks.  That move will save him $400 if he needs more RAM

  4. Buy a mac they are worth it totally. They don't weight much at all the macbooks seem like air and also make sure to get iWork&iLife because that's better.  Also, look into the mac book air.
