Buy stock of players and yield fruitful returns - Tennis Special
The sport of tennis can be transformed into a business identity. Some people might dislike this concept because they believe that sports should not be mixed with business and the reason they put forth to support their clause is
that it will bring in a lot more fixing; spot fixing, match fixing, points fixing, aces fixing, and what not.
However, my point of view is totally different. I want the Association of Tennis Professionals launching their own market in which people can trade shares of players just like the stock exchange in every country. Still don’t like
the idea? Let me explain it further so you get it better.
Players represent their native nations and their fan following can range from their hometown to the whole world. Consider the example of active players Rafael Nadal and Rui Machado. One of them is known throughout the world and
he belongs to Spain whilst the other is hardly known by the whole tennis community and he represents Portugal. You see the difference. It is just like the companies that are the market leaders versus the infant ones that has just joined the business or haven’t
grown to an international scale.
Now, suppose you like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic but you believe that Andy Murray is going to register an upset in the next match with either one of them. No one else believes your theory that means the odds
for Andy Murray’s win are rare compared to the Top-3 players. For an instance, forget betting, it is a complex thing compared to stock trading and also banned in many of the countries. So, not everyone gets paid for their analysis but if there were stocks
available for each player, they would have been repaid for their intuition, analysis or just a random guess.
Consider that the players’ stock exchange is listed by the ATP officials and you are allowed to buy the stock of your favourite players or the ones you think will reap you fruitful returns. So, now you have bought multiple stocks
or Andy Murray and wait for the results of the matches. There is definitely a risk in their but then there is always a risk in doing business. So, your intuition or analysis can pay you off when Murray registers an upset (that is highly unlikely in a realistic
scenario). People will start buying the stock of the Briton number one and therefore due to an increase in demand, the price of the stock will raise that will give you a considerable capital gain.
You must be thinking that why will someone buy the stocks of the players when they are getting no dividends. That is a true question for sure and this can be sorted out if some of the prize money received by players is attributed
to the stake holders as well. It might require a greater sponsorship but it will catch a greater hype as well as the eye of several big investors.
Let’s conduct a fair business and quit ‘rule of bettors’ who are ruining the business.
