I have been selling on ebay for a little over a month and someone bought a $200.00 item, I shipped the item and left good feedback.A few days later he sent me a message that he wasn't convinced with the item and that he will be returning it.My listing said that I do accept returns,so I really have no problem with that.Since he already shipped the item to me I should be expecting his return anytime now.But I asked him to please leave feedback,he told I will be sure to leave feedback but there's one thing. If I return his money, what if he leaves negative feedback? I mean he already got his money so he could care less.Should I make him leave positive feedback prior to me refunding his money? I already left positive feedback for him.

  1. So far this has been a positive transaction.  He paid for the item, I assume you shipped in timely, he wants to return it according to your policy and he expects a return promptly.  Was your item as described?  Was the quality good?  Was it in good repair when he received it?  Why are you anticipating negative feedback.  Conduct your business with integrity and you should have nothing to fear.  The fact that you do have fear, makes me wonder what you have to fear.  If someone returns one of my products, I never worry they will say anything negative about me or the transaction.  Stay in compliance with the policies of eBay and your own auction and you will be fine.

  2. Wait until you get the item back and MAKE SURE IT IS YOURS before you refund the money.

Sometimes the buyer switches the goods.

Make sure it's working, no missing parts, etc.

THEN refund his money in the manner he paid it - if he paid by Paypal, refund by Paypal.

As far as a neg is concerned, it's unlikely that he'll leave one unless he's pulling a fast one.

You can't require him to leave positice feedback before you refund his money - that's called feedback extortion and a new seller could get banned for that.

So take the chance that he'll be good.  He may not leave feedback at all.
