Buyers for Adam LaRoche increase in free agent market as Boston Red Sox intensify talks-MLB Update
Free agent first baseman, Adam LaRoche, can take pleasure from the fact that his demand in the market has increased significantly over the last few weeks.
The Washington Nationals and the Boston Red Sox are trying to pull him toward their sides, among other organisations that are waiting for the right opportunity to sign LaRoche.
The Nationals had talks regarding contract extension of LaRoche stopped earlier.
However, they have resumed them now, realising that LaRoche can go elsewhere if not pursued actively.
It seems interests shown by other clubs have made the Nationals understand the importance of LaRoche.
Unlike an indifferent attitude with regard to signing LaRoche exhibited earlier, they are attempting to conclude the deal with him at the earliest.
The next couple of days can see some headway taking place and that the decision as to where LaRoche plays next year is made.
LaRoche was the most successful first baseman during the last season as was indicated by the Gold Glove honour that he earned.
Besides, he had some wonderful outings at the plate, which resulted in the unbelievable victories for the Nationals.
Tremendous success achieved in the 2012 season has made LaRoche think that he is more valuable than the offers that he is receiving from the interested teams.
Understandably so, he is unwilling to agree to anything, which is even a fraction short of his expectations.
He is h**l-bent to clinch a three-year agreement, which unfortunately the Nationals have denied offering flatly.
In case the Nationals continue declining, LaRoche will most probably join some other organisation.
Along with the Nationals and the Red Sox, the Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners are in the running to get LaRoche from the market.
It will be interesting to see which team fetches him eventually.
It has been a long time now for LaRoche to be in the market. He is there since the start of the free agency.
He refused qualifying offer from the Nationals, hoping that he will earn the contract extension immediately after testing free agency.
To his disappointment, it did not happen.
LaRoche will be looking forward to earn the new deal as soon as possible.
