Yeah I am continuing my tiresome attempt at trying to learn about what I plan to but (an HDTV) to try my hardest not to get screwed over. Anyway..... What does a PC input do on an HDTV? Does that mean I can start browsing the web with my computer hooked into my TV instead of its monitor?

And I also wonder how long do these HDTV's last. Right now I still have a 27" 12-15 years old GE CRT. They will last at least 10 yrs right? If you need to know what brand how bout a LG 32" 720p HDTV? or Samsung 32' HDTV?

  1. PC input means the set has a VGA input, just like most PC monitors. So you can connect your PC to the TV and use it like a monitor.

To be sure you know what you're getting, you may have to download the TV's manual to see what resolutions it will accept through the PC port, and compare them with your PC's resolutions.

LG and Samsung are decent manufacturers as are Sony and Panasonic.

These sets haven't been around long enough for there to be a lot of reliability data-but most manufacturers specify 60,000 hrs before the set drops to half brightness. Of course, there may be other repairable failures before that point is reached.
