  1. I have a fairly big skate, an 11. To me, CCMs seem to have the most room for larger/wider feet so I got Vectors. They are working perfectly. Also, because of the size you might be wearing, it might be good to look into the blade (mine is a 3/8 radius) that can make a noticeable difference too depending on how you stop/how well. They cost about $100.

  2. If you have no limitations, get the Bauer one95's. They make wide sizes available. Those skates are sick for improving speed. If you need more flex, pick up the Bauer Vapor 40's. Most pros use bauer for a reason and any Pro Shop will be able to order the E- size if they do not have it in stock

  3. I'm a right winger, and I use Easton S15's. I've previously had Nike Bauer one90's, and I like the S15's alot more.

  4. Look for RBK those are the best skates also CCM are very very nice.

  5. Hey man i'm having the same problem i need new skates and i've only skated Nike Bauer vapor's or original bauers but the Easton Stealth line is sick and so i would go for any of the stealth skates S7 or above

  6. I like Easton a lot, but I have narrow feet. My brother has very wide feet and so does my dad. They both wear CCMs or RBKs. They're known for wideness. I've tried CCM and they work very nicely.

  7. Best skate is the one that fits your foot, and all make wide sizes. Go to a big pro shop and try skates on. If money is no object, then there are a lot of nice skates. I warn people about graf- they fit great and all that, but they're a traditional boot- leather and nylon primarily- and a one piece composite boot like a top of the line Bauer, CCM, RBK or Easton will be a lot lighter.  Graf does offer better fit customization though.

CCMs are known for being wider, and in my experience eastons fit about the same with a lower instep.

But yeah, go to a store and try a few on.

As for what's really best, about 70% of pros use Bauer. however, they are supposed to run narrow, so you will want to try it on.

  8. I just bought a pair of CCM 992 Super Tacks from HockeyGiant.  I got mine on sale but they are now around $200.  After 5 skates with them, the boot is starting to break in very well.  You can even take them to a pro shop and heat them up to speed up the break in process.  They will feel uncomfortable at first since the boot is so stiff but they do break in quickly.  I do not have a wide foot but like the extra little bit of room that I get with the CCM skates.

Before that I had a pair of Mission Amp 3.  I also bought these skates on-line and they served me very well for 4 years.  I upgraded because the steel blades were getting low and it did not cost too much more to get a whole new pair of skates.

  9. You might want to try the newest RBK 9k pumps. Some people like them some people don't. But you might find them comfortable, lightweight, and durable. They also do provide lots of support around the ankle.

  10. nike bauer ONE95...i have them and they are absolutely AMAZING....nike bauer has prob.the most wide range of skates, and their prices r pretty reasonable...

    good luck!

  11. hockeymonky.com or mission.com

  12. There is no "best skate" for everyone.  It depends on your foot, and which skate fits best and has the right amount of support, stiffness, weight, moisture management for what you're looking for (relative to price).

Everyone has a preference as to brand/model; some based on the brand (the "I like XYZ brand" customer), the fit person, or the person who likes the colour scheme.

Equipment has never been as highly technical as it is now; even mid-priced models are quite good in terms of quality.

    Good luck with your purchase.
