Question:

Buying LCD TV! HELP!?

Me and my girlfriend are currently looking for an LCD TV for her bedroom. We are going to be wall mounting this TV.

From what I understand, 1080P is the pixel resolution, and is more commonly found in larger TVs. As we are looking for a smaller one, around 22inch, maybe bigger, the TVs we have been looking at in Future Shop have been around 760P (I think). I'm just wondering what to look for in a TV, and why this specific WalMart TV is so cheap. I understand the brand isn't Sony, or any big brand name, so that probabaly knocks a lot off of the price, but it says it's 1050P for a 22 inch, which to me seems amazing.

Can anyone tell me the downside of this TV, or at least explain to me a little more in depth what I should be looking for? Thanks a lot!

  1. I'm sorry to tell you that, but when you buy an LCD you have to buy a big name like Sony or Phillips. LCD don't go for a long time. Their lifetime is counted in hours. Maybe the TV you're going to buy has a very short lifetime so you have to ask the seller about it. Also look at if it's HD ready of full.

  2. Hey, resolution and High Definition are different things, this TV is not full HD it would probably be 720p and to correct you it is 1080p which is Full HD, 1050P doesnt exist. i have two Samsung LCDs a 52" LCD full Hd and a 32" Full HD LCD i think the smallest model of full HD TVs is 32 inch. You dont need 1080p unless u hav got a ps3 360 or Blu Ray DVD player

  3. First thing don't worry too much about numbers and junk like that.

You spend a lot of time at the stores directly comparing the pictures of their display units. Then get the one that has the best picture to your eyes not someone elses eyes.

Next as for that TV. Go to walmart.com. then go to TV's.

Then read the reviews on the TV you are looking to buy: That will help more than any thing.

If it is the TV I am thinking you are talking about. I read the reviews.  It has a lot of bad reviews. Too many for my comfort.

  4. u may save money now but this tv is c**p .

    reasons

-no built in hd tuner (to reciever digital channels a set tobox will be needed)

    - no brand (what sort of warranty is there?)

    - quality of pictures is hardly 720p or something

get atleast a 32inch tv like a sony or samsung or lg with a built in hd tuner ,

doesnt have to be full hd unless u playing bluray or ps3 on it

theres a reason for the price

    u get what u pay

    good luck

  5. I'm here to save you pal.  You can learn from my costly mistake.  I purchased an ILO  LCD TV from Walmart.  Tehy guaranteed it for 90 days.  8 months after my purchase the mother board fried and it was stuck on one channel.....a channel I do not subscribe to.  I looked in my manufacturers booklet and there was no address or phone for this company.  I did what anybody would do...I googled the exact make and model of my TV.  I read more that 30 heartbreaking stories of people who had purchased the same tv as me.  Some had paid $250 less than me and others had paid at least that much more than I did.  No one's tv lasted longer than 8 months.  People wrote about how no repair shops would work on them and some of the repairmen actually said it was a piece of c**p.  Some said  "they don't even make replacement parts for those things".  One single mother who had saved for quite some time to buy hers said " mine broke 92 days after I purchased it".  Walmart did nothing for anyone after the 90 days even with all those complaints.

Please do yourself a favor and buy a well known brand.  'Really think Walmart is not the place to buy a tv unless you get it for under $100.

Best of luck to you.  Kudos for asking around before you invest.
