I live in a tiny NYC apt and am replacing my dying CRT tv I've had for 10 years. Is it worth it to go 1080p? I might get a PS3/Blu-ray someday but no time soon. Can you even notice that many pixels in a set so small? Is it a waste of money?

Some models I'm considering if anyone has extra advice:

1080p:

Toshiba 32rv53ou

Samsung LN32A550

720p:

Samsung ln32a330

LG lg32lg30

Sharp lc32sb24u

Sony kdl32l4000

Thanks!

  1. It really doesn't make a difference if you get full hd on that small of a screen. You won't be able to tell unless youre sitting a foot away from the screen. A good rule of thumb is to buy tv's <40" full hd and tvs >40" lower.

  2. 1080p makes no sense for a TV smaller than 50" and then it really makes very very little difference. Spend the $ on better display specs (higher refresh rate LCD, better contrast ratio) and skip the 1080p.

When buying and LCD, buy from the "S's", Samsung, Sharp and then Sony (in rank order)
