I have a bought a set of Irons ; Nike Ignites Steel Shafts. I am looking for a Sand Wedge to buy. Do you think i should get the Nike Ignite Sand Wedge to go with the set or get something else? The other club i was looking was at was the Cleveland CG11. I have not seem many SW that have a Cavity back to them. If i get the the Nike Ignite SW i can save some money. Is there any reason why i would dislike the club, if i like the set? (nor that i can tell a difference anyways)

  1. I also have a Cleveland SW(588) and love it.   Some people swear by the Adams and others.  If you are an average golfer and are just looking to have a sandie for when you are in the bunker, then the Nike would be fine.

  2. You might as well get the Ignite sand wedge since you like the irons.  It makes sense.  I have a set of Nike Pro Combos and bought the Pro Combo sand wedge to go with it.  I wish I could find another Pro Combo sand wedge.

Dude that said Cleveland wedges are coming up behind the Titleist wedges has it mixed up.  Cleveland started out as a wedge company so they know wedges.  THe CG14 is the hottest wedge out this year.  I felt the need to clear that up for you.

  3. The Cleveland wedges are much better than Nike wedges.  Nike has very forgiving irons, but the wedges are a lot more important than 7,8,9 irons.  remember most of your strokes come withing 100 yards of the pin.  The Titleist Vokey wedges are probably the best on the market, but from what I hear from the pro's...Cleveland has closed the gap along with the Calloway X series.

  4. Have you looked at the Nike Slingshot Sand Wedges? Might be a good compromise between the Ignites and the Clevelands, $59 or $69 depending on steel or graphite.

Check 'em out here [ http://rockbottomgolfssl.com/search/sear... ] and if you decide to buy from Rock Bottom, you can enter Slick10Off during check out and get 10% off.

  5. I am a fan of the Cleveland CG 12 wedges.  If you feel good with the Nike's than go with them.  Golf is a game of confidence and is more mental than physical.  If you feel good with a particular wedge in your hand, you have a better chance of hitting it well.

Make sure you get the right degree of bounce for your swing if you are buying a sand wedge.

  6. To add a little to the bounce part of an earlier answer....you don't ncessarily get a specific bounce because of your swing. What determines  the level of bounce you need is the texture or construction of the sand at your "home" course. In bunkers w/ soft sand one type of bounce will allow you really dig in for the ball...in hard type sand, one will allow you to skim the sand and calm the shovel effect. Their is a neutral bounce as well that is right in the middle of spectrum. Best of luck.
