  1. That's too cheap---maybe it has something damaged or needs major repair.  I suggest you get a copy of 'WHAT MOUNTAIN BIKE' magazine----plenty of bargain NEW bikes that have sweet prices (  the Rockadile ain't BAD though the OTERO, or some lower priced Kona, Specialized bikes are BETTER). Anyway---you can buy bikes there in INSTALLMENT basis ( monthly---and fantastic deals too!)----so your options are PLENTY.

  2. Be very careful when buying a used bike like this. Many owners make the error of thinking it is a bike that can take abuse because of the brakes and the name "mountain bike"... but it can't... so these are often in pretty bad shape. This bike is intended for on the road and offroad on smooth trails- no jumping, no drops, no harsh trails.

Take the time to ride it and shift through all the gears. Listen for weird sounds and squeaks. If it doesn't perform the way you think it should decline the offer.

If you DO purchase it take it directly to a bike shop to have it checked. Better to spend a bit of money than to end up splayed out on the road somewhere.
