Thinking of getting a used bow, but not sure how reliable a used one would be. Do they tend to wear out/snap over time or do they tend to last?

  1. I haven't personally bought any bows on ebay, but have quite a few friends who have, and have so far been happy.  I've only bought quivers, sights, and even arrows on ebay.  Arrows are another one of those things you'd usually want to see in person, but so far so good.

  2. look at the sellers previous sales and if they have good feedback then go for it but even then I wouldnt trust it, buy a used one at a pawn shop so you can see what kind of shape it is in.

  3. The used bow market is pretty huge right now, There's nothing wrong with most of the used bows that are for sale. The advertising makes every one that bought a new bow last year think that they need the latest and the greatest new bow on the market to shoot accurately and hunt successfully. There are some people that are convinced that it is neccessay to get the latest bow out- every year. Of course, none of this is true- in fact a bow manufactured 3,4,or 5 years ago, may be a better bow then the later models that have came out afterwords.. The bow manufacturers use the advertising to increase their bottom line- They are very good at it. I have been guilty of buying the latest and greatest myself, but in truth, the older bow that I had was probably just as good. Because of people wanting to trade up, there will always be a lot of good use bows on the market, at substantial savings.

  4. i have purchased bows off of eBay and they all work great but u just have to be careful and look at the pictures and look to see what you are actually getting, if its got large scratches or dings id be to and extents precautious

  5. I bought my first one off ebay used and it was nice. I used it for 2 years and it still works great I just wanted a smaller faster bow so I upgraded.

  6. You Bet it would.* Get a Hoyt Brand.* I shoot without any sights on mine. Its called instinctive.* My Hoyt is a 47lb Black Widow Model.* Great Bow.*

  7. Not something I would buy used without seeing it in person.

  8. I have bought two bows from eBay auctions. Both have been just fine. Just like one of the posters said, check feedback on the seller to make sure they are delvering what they say they are selling quality wise.

It's a great way to perhaps save some money, there are a few sellers on there selling new old stock, that might be last years or maybe even the year before model for alot less money, and if you don't have to have the newest and greatest it's a great way to go and save quite a bit of money even if you just buy the bare bow and outfit it yourself. Most sellers will set the draw weight and length for you before they ship it. as far as I'm concerned. One thing I would do, and I did before I bought my bow is go to an outfitter and try a bow that you are interested in first and see if you like it, then try and find one on an auction.
