  1. I've heard that the older TL models have transmission problems.

If you don't mind the reduction in horsepower, maybe you can look into a TSX instead.  I own an 08 and it's a fun little car to drive.

  2. with the 2002 models seems to be hit and miss. Some owners have no problems others have repeated problems with the transmission.

best not buy this year. look at older Integras or RSX.

but check your insurance co. for rates first.

  3. You Should just buy a new one or go to another model like the TSX, it is sportier, cheaper, and was recently re-designed, also check out the RL also redesigned but is quite expensive. Acuras are actually really reliable!!! They are owned buy Honda and Honda's are some of the most reliable cars out there!!

  4. Car with more than 50K cannot be judged by mileage and year.  Go take it to a mechanic.  They can't spot everything, but they can spot the major problems.

Two cars with different maintenance history will behave completely differently.

Honda = Acura.  My 94 Civic (with 187K miles) runs like new.  But you should know that auto trannies are suppose to get tranny oil EVERY 30k miles.  Most people NEVER do it at all.

    Good Luck...
