I am looking to buy a new car this week. I have been leaning towards an 06 Ford Five Hundred but it has 78,000 miles on it. I also am considering an 06 Suzuki Forenza with 30,000 miles on it.

I know mileage wise the Suzuki would be best...but is buying a car with 78,000 miles a bad thing to do??

  1. not really that "bad" but something over 100,000 miles is way too much to buy unless it's maintained well.

  2. im sellin a 04 impala very beautiful car hundredthousend miles on it its  goin for 4600 if u got any Q ask 4 my #

  3. 78k miles is alot for an 06' but that doesnt make it bad, it just makes it cheaper. It all depends on how it was maintained and what kind of shape its in.

I would recomend avoiding both of those cars, stay away from Suzuki in general, and the 500 can have transmission problems, I have several customers that are very happy with thier 500's but occasionally the transmission goes bad on them so I would avoid it.

If you told me how much the 500 is I could tell you if its worth it.

Generally speaking Toyota's, Honda's, and Subaru's hold up better when you put alot of miles on them so if your planning on keeping the car for a while those are worth the extra money you have to pay for them.

  4. not necessarily bad ..all depends on how it was maintained

  5. Of course not, as long as the price is right.

  6. don't buy a ford.... if you are going to buy a car with high mileage buy a Toyota. All my family has them and my car has almost three hundred THOUSAND miles and I have never done any work on it other than regular maintenance. Good Luck

  7. Considering the 78,000 miles were done in two years, then I wouldn't like it.

That car was bought to do mileage then got rid of while it still looks good. You can do 78,000 without doing any maintenance on something that's new then sell it off just before it dies.

A 78,000  car that was 10 years old would have had a better life and the thought behind the owning it would have been different so on that reasoning I'd go for the Ford, regardless of what the price might be.
