Buying a digital camera and a camcorder any suggestions?

I want good quality on both, don't mind buying them seperately, but looking to maybe buy a camcorder that takes great stills. I need some suggestions, looking to pay up to $250.00. I am having my first child next month and want something good to record every second! LOL j/k

My choice would be a Kodak Z1285 12.0 Megapixel 8x Zoom.  I own this camera.  You can also take video on this camera.  On this website http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

It only costs 179.99.  (I payed 230.00 at a local Wal-Mart

The 8x Zoom is good for when you are at the park or something and you can just zoom in and no one will know you were really far away.
