Buying a first sailboat for a child (10-16 years old)?

I want to buy a small sailboat, preferably, flat bottom, to teach my own children how to handle. I would want it to hold the three of us,

What are some models I should be looking for? What's a price range

I learned many many years ago in Turnabouts.....a very popular trainer is the Optimist.....thousands out there, very active racing/sailing program.......maybe a bit small for two kids and an adult but great for two kids.....

and there's ahuge difference between a 10 year old and a 16....a 16 year old will be bored to death by an Opti.....you'll have to get him/her a Laser or a 420......
