Buying a gun in Texas

Question

Is there a waiting period for buying a handgun in Texas? What are the requirements?

All I can find are the requirements for a concealed weapon and I dont care about that. I just want to know the requirements for buying a handgun....waiting period...stuff like that???

Last time I bought a gun in Texas I had to wait, what?  Ten minutes.  Of course I do have a CCW license which does expedite things a bit.  Prior to getting my CCW I had to wait all of twenty minutes.

In the State of Texas, there really is no waiting period for purchasing a gun. For example, if you go to any Gun Show in Texas, the only checks they will do will be on you, to make sure you are 21 years old. And secondly, they will make sure to do a background check on you. They will also check the Gun Registry to make sure you are who you say you are. After that, in about 20-30 minutes, you can have your handgun.

There is no waiting period for handgun purchases in Texas. you will need proof of identification and age,(you must be 21, of course), and they will do an instant background check before the sale is complete. this takes 10-15 minutes. then you pay and take the gun with you.

No waiting period. BTW have you decided what kind of gun to get? I would suggest a .380.

I have always heard that a pistol was issued with every birth certificate in Texas. You mean you actually have to buy guns there?

As long as you don't have a criminal record, you should be approved. Texas doesn't have a waiting period, they just plug in your registration and see if the computer approves it.
