I am getting a himalayan kitten. The person I am purchasing it from has one female and 2 males. They all look almost the same to me. I do have a female cat at home. Which should I get, male or female? I will not be breeding this cat, so it will have a trip to the vet soon.

  1. I would get a male.I have 1 male and 2 females. The male cat gets along wonderfully w/both females. The male is a Flamepoint Himmie.I have one sweet female,a Tortie Himmie. The "witch cat from Hades" is a female Persian mix.

  2. hmmm id say a guy i guess cuz i once had a girl and a guy and they got along great!!! i think you should  go with a male they are just so much more friendlier    Good Luck   :D

  3. In my own personal experience, I have found male cats to be friendlier and more playful than females (who have appeared to be more aloof and independent).

Based on this alone I would always prefer to get a male cat over a female. And since you already have a female I believe a male would get along better.

Go with the boy, all the way!

  4. I would get the male, from my experience if you have 1 of both the s*x's than they are less territorial and hopefully won't mark. Also I have found that males seem to be more out going.

  5. I would get a female.  I have 2 females now and they are fine.  I used to have a male and a female and the male was such a bully.

Make sure you introduce them slowly though that can be a nasty thing if not done right!

    good luck!

  6. I would get a female, from my personal experience, same s*x cats get along better. I have 2 boys now who get along great and I had a boy and a girl who fought occasionally. Although it is better to introduce them when they are younger, most cats will respond well to a new kitten, especially females. Good luck :)
