  1. Twisted is just about right here or at the very least "buyer beware"

If you research DVLA it clearly tells you NOT to buy a vehiace that does not have the V5 present and that the name and address should be that of the seller

Now that you are fully informed I suggest you run a mile from it no matter how good it sounds as you could loose the money and the bike if it turns out to be stolen with little or no come back to the seller

  2. "...but the person im buying it from never had the bike registered to him."

    In other words, it's stolen...

  3. http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/forms/v...

fill in the form in the link.

  4. It's ok as long as your sure the seller is EXTREMELY bloody trustworthy. Make sure you have genuine contact details from them too.

I've done it before but you have to be really sure before you part with your cash. It can open a huge S****y can of worms if the bike turns out to be knock-off and you won't have a leg to stand on.

You can get a new V5 registered to you for £25 if you fill in a form (can't remember what its called) from the post office.

  5. Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, sounds a bit dodgy to me

  6. When i buy a vehicle or motorcycle from a private owner. I always require before money transfers hands that I see the COT/COR, if it was registered before.

If it wasn't registered at all, I wouldn't waste my time.

If the individual possesses the proper documents, then I would followup on a vehicle search before I paid for it.

Go down to the DMV and transfer ownership with the seller present, in case there's any problems.

Make sure when purchasing a important item like a motorcycle, you are accompanied by someone who knows bikes and has good business sense.

    Good riding.

  7. Make sure you get a receipt with reg number ,frame number, and engine number then just goto dvla website to get doc  and get the receipt dated

  8. No v5? this should set alarm bells ringing. hpi it first. Then go to the post office and get a form to request a new v5/logbook.
