  1. Well if you absolutely have to buy an LCD TV, then it doesn't really matter what brand u get, they're all made in the same place with the same parts anyway. Also, LCDs and Plasmas have a much shorter lifespan than the normal, CRT type TVs.

And if you're only getting a new TV because of the whole 2009 thing, then don't waste your money, because you will NOT need a digital TV after 2009. that only applies to the people who do not have cable or satelite. if you have cable or satelite, then 2009 won't affect you in the least bit. if you don't have cable or satelite, then you can get a little converter box to sit on top your TV, and you can still use your old TV just like before.

But let me tell you something though.... CRT TVs last longer than LCD or Plasma TVs. The one in my living room was bought new in 1969 by my grandpa, and the d**n thing's still running today and it's never had a single problem.

Plasma and LCDs only have a 15 year lifespan.

  3. I have always been a big advocator for the Samsung brand you may be paying more initially, but in the long run you will enjoy the picture quality and overall build of the TV over that of any other brand. I suggest one with a full HD 1080p resolution (If you plan on getting A Xbox 360/PS3 or a Blu-ray player they don’t broadcast in this resolution yet). If possible get a 10,000:1 contrast or higher for deep blacks and bright whites, Then to top it off with 120 Hz Auto Motion plus to give you excellent picture motion that you have to see to believe.

All at a price under $2,000:
