I want some help as to what to look for in a camera, or (if you can help me) I need to find a camera I can purchase for no more than $400 Canadian.

Some features I am looking for...

-Need pretty good sound; room for an external microphone.

-Good battery life for decent price

-DV or USB format

-Decent quality: doesn't need to be amazing.

-No overkill on unnecessary features.

-Easy to access controls

-High lux and/or night vision

-Relatively easy to edit on a home computer.

-Comes with editing software (??)

I am using this camcorder for home videos and for Youtube.

  1. Ask in the forums at http://www.simplydv.co.uk where there's always loads of good advice on this kinda stuff. To be honest, I'd steer clear of DV tape these days because other non-tape formats are now very good and, of course, DV itself is being phased out quickly.

All camcorders come bundled with simple to use software, and pretty much anything that isn't High Definition is easy to handle in modern everyday computers.
