  1. Spam Juice is correct.  The only plus to the entire situation is that you will get a somewhat cheaper price because you aren't financing.

Sit down with your c.card documentation and see exactly how much you stand to lose by doing it this way---write that number down and keep it in your pocket when you go car shopping.  2nd tip, and I hate to sound sexist here---and I can't tell by your user name, so please don't be offended--you should take your Dad, brother, uncle, SOMEONE who is used to negotiating things like this with you---ESPECIALLY if you're a girl.  I don't say that to be mean, but if I walk in a place wanting to get the oil changed, they start trying to tell me I need timing belts and catalytic converters and engine coil modules that are dealer-only parts......No, boys, it needs an oil change.  Some older male figure with you (whether you're male or female) will be able to negotiate the best price for you, especially since you're essentially paying cash.

When it gets down to Deal or No Deal time, no matter how badly you want this car, if the number the dealer spouts is higher than the number written down in your pocket (what you stand to lose through the c.card) calmly tell him no deal and walk away.  Odds are he'll call you with another offer later in the day----but you don't want to get a good deal on a car only to lose money paying for it.

I wish you the very best of luck!!

  2. You're buying a car with a credit card?  Read the fine print, that is considered as a cash transaction which means you get none of your credit card benefits and a hefty percentage rate.
