  1. Well when you are shopping for a pool table you want to look at what it is made of.  This one looks like it is made of slate but with the conversion modles (which I couldn't find on this one) they sometimes skimp.  If it is made out of something else or just isn't quality you will see problems with warping.  The best brand out there is Brunswick  but their tables start out over 3000 new.  You might want to look through the classifieds because if you can find a Brunswick for under a thousand you have a good deal.  If the felt is worn or the bumpers are old you can get them redone and then it will look like a brand new table.  Also you want to make sure the slate isn't too thin because that can make it weak resulting in an uneven playing area.  Hope this helped.

  2. That costco combo table does not have a slate bed. Trust me, you want a slate playing surface. Go with the classifieds or look on Ebay for a local seller with a slate table. The slate will be 3/4" or 1" thick (1" is better / more stable). Good brands are Brunswick, Olhausen, Connelly, Valley (like bar tables). A good used table is better than a poor new table. I have owned two Brunswicks and would never buy another brand. Good luck in your search.

  3. its a good starter table and always put the ping pong table back on top when not playing to help keep the felt clean. only think to be prepared for is doing the set-up yourself and make sure you have a good level for the set up.

  4. make sure it doesn't have a wooden slate.

  5. looks nice.

  6. That's a really, really, terrible table. As other have suggested, look for something used. Good brands are Olhausen, Diamond (although you won't find one in that price range), Brunswick and Connelly.

Pool tables are a pretty substantial investment, and can be a lot of trouble. I would suggest you go to http://www.easypooltutor.com forums and talk to the people on there. There are a lot of people with experience buying, selling, and installing pool tables that can help you out.

  7. Depends on what you want. If you want a ping pong table also this is a nice table if you only want to shoot pool you can do better. i would check around on craigslist or something like that for a good used table. Check your local paper also when people move they often don;t want to take there pool table with them and for a thousand dollars you can get a great used table. Also most table like the one you linked to have to be assembled and that is not a easy task i have done it before. Good Luck

  8. Wouldnt give half of that for it its wood and aint worth carrying home s thousand is a lot of money for a 15 year old to throw away on something like that-I know it aint what you had in mind but take a look at some used tables in your local paper dont buy one on ebay  look at it before you buy it ,Ebay is like a mail order bride -The picture is fine but no tellin what you will get just feed piggy and shop around.  Yeah I know I could hardly wait for my first good table either but was always glad I did
