  1. a used one that fits you, your horse, and your budget! haha

  2. you need to get on e bay or the loot and quids in

  3. I have a collegate with the changable gullet, I love it. I bought it for around 200 dollers at a local tackshop. I do hunter/jumper. But mostly hunter. Its a great jumping saddle.

  4. something from ebay. They have excellent prices.

  5. An all-purpose saddle with adjustable knee rolls (the wedges are attached via velcro so you can move them to different positions when you are doing different things).

synthetic saddles will be cheaper than real leather.

You won't find anything worthwhile new for that price.  Watch ebay, Craig's list, local tack sales and 4H tack swaps - check out local tack stores and sell consignment items - these are hot now due to the economy.  We sell a number of good ones from consignment at our store.

    Good luck!

  6. If you board your horse at a barn and have a trainer, then him/her if the barn has any saddles available from retired riders. You could also go to a tack shop and ask them to help you find the perfect saddle. Don't expect a new saddle for $200 or less.

  7. u want somethind study on ur part (where u sit) but on the other part (that touches the horse)something soft so it does not hurt the horse.Yes eaby has good prices but most of them our bad qualtiy.

  8. I agree with the others that second hand can be a very good way to go.  But I'll add: will other riders allow you to try out their saddles over the next few weeks?  If so, you would get a chance to feel different brands, models, and sizes.  It would help you make the best choice. Actually, all my saddles are second hand and I love the fit on all of them.  The most I've paid was $150.00, and that was for my daughter to show in english classes, and included the bridle.  Why not look for some used tack sales?  Our 4H club holds one yearly and we find some great buys.

  9. all purpose saddle..

  10. A good second hand GP from your tack shop.

alot of people stick their noses up at second hand saddles but in actual fact some can be better than new ones because they are allready made slightly supple.

dont let the words "second hand" put you off.

  11. i got a used wintec 500 all purpose saddle for 200 bucks, but of course, wintec is the worst saddle brand and i strongly do not recommend it.

i know some used saddles can be only like 75 dollars... remember you still need to be the stirrups and stirrups leather and all.

  12. -second hand wintec saddle from ad-trader

    - or if you can stretch your budget by £20 a new wintec from equestrian clearance!

    Great saddles.......synthetic.....and cheap!

  13. An all purpose of close contact would be good and you can get one pretty cheap on ebay. I just bought one for $101 w/ shipping. The only thing is you have to ask questions before you bid or you may get stuck with something you didnt want. Make sure it comes with a girth and stirrups w/ irons. Many people dont sell them with these things and you end up spending even more.

  14. buy a used saddle from a local tack shop. make sure to check the saddle, and dont buy any that have broken leathers, rotted padding, or undone stitching, since getting saddles repaired can be expensive. you can search buying a used saddle on the internet; i got a really good website, but i saved it to my computer and dont have the website. Anyway, you can find a lot of information on how to tell if the saddle is in good condition or not. a good tack shop will not sell unusable saddles without telling you, but it is always better to be safe than sorry and check it before you buy it. hope i was a help =)

  15. Ebay is your way to go--even second hand tack stores won't have a quality saddle for $200. The problem with ebay is sizing it--try and find someone who allows returns and be SURE what size tree your horse needs. Try out your friends saddles if any two have either a close contact or all purpose. Decide which one you like more--I have done a lot of riding in both kinds and find that I prefer close contact.

  16. consider getting a used saddle from your local tack shop or looking on ebay/craigslist (just be careful to make sure you aren't scammed...) you can often find one with minor blemishes but in great condition for under 200....

you should look for a General purpose riding saddle, you can use it for jumping or whatever you'd like.
