My hubby really wants to buy this 2004 Dodge Durango SLT with 40,000 miles. I am debating b/c I don't know anything about this SUV and I've never heard anything about it either. Does anyone know if it's a good car to go with ?? We need something with 3rd row seating and this seems like the best option for the price. help!

  1. it all depends on the shape, they are real nice cars, powerful but it probly gots a v8 whitch would hurt your gas millage

  2. I would look up reviews on the car/model and year in places like epinions.com and get thoughts from real people. My sister-in-law has a Durango, not sure the year, and really likes it.

  3. The Durango gets absolutely horrible gas mileage..... Its got a real nice 318 V8 engine thats got a lot of power but drinks gas like a drunken sailor.... They really are nice vehicles but with gasoline moving right on up in price ($4.25 in my area) I would avoid....

  4. dont buy a suv its a waste put that money into a bank account

  5. Just remember that a Dodge truck generally gets abysmal gas mileage, even as far as trucks go.  Can you find a Chevy Suburban (or Tahoe) for near the same price?  You'll get the same (or better) gas mileage in a much larger vehicle.

Dealer are sucking wind with trucks and large SUVs right now.  You might be able to find a deal if you look around.

  6. It is the cheapest SUV in class.  It will hold no value at all.  You can get a 3 year old SLT for7000.00.  They use Ford's old technology and are behind times on equipment as they  are the least expensive.

  7. Any study at all will show the poor resell and the lack of milage.  There are many suvs out there that are better built.

Not to mention Dodge's way of discontinuing models and then no parts availability.

Take a look at the Hyundai.

  8. Dodges as a whole are not very reliable

the 04 Durango is on the list of used cars to avoid

    for useable 3row seats

    GMC Acadia

    Saturn Outlook

    Ford Taurus X

    Honda Pilot

    Hyundai Santa Fe

    look at Kia Rondo

  9. gas mileage not so good but should be able to pick up at a great price everyone is looking to dump them consumer report says the 04 is below avg over all

  10. It's a Dodge, which means you'll probably need to replace it in a year.  Look at Consumer Report, Dodge and Chryslers are usually ranked at the bottom of reliability.
