Question:

Buying an idTGV ticket for someone else?

My friend is going to France in a few days. She needed a train ticket from Paris to Nice. We found an idTGV fare (not the normal TGV ticket but rather the budget online one) on the www.voyages-sncf.com site. My friend's credit card didn't work, though, because of a problem with her credit card company. So I bought it on my credit card. Her ticket is the kind you print out at home.

Then I realized that maybe she would have to present my credit card upon boarding the train. I wasn't sure from the website whether this was the case, or whether showing the printed receipt was good enough. My French is not very good and I couldn't scan the website well enough to find this information. We emailed their customer service but who knows if they understand English or will get back to us in time before she leaves.

Can someone let me know if what we did was okay? Or are we going to have to change the transaction to her credit card somehow? Thanks.

  1. i can speak perfectly french and will check the conditions on the website.

Ok, there are no problem, as long as it is her name on the ticket. She will not be asked your credit card. Her printed ticket is sufficient.

    I'm french.
