Buying at Costco with cash card / gift card?

Question

I heard people are buying stuff at Costco using giftcards instead of paying for membership (they pay 5% more but that's fine with me). How can I buy me a Costco giftcard? I went to their website and when I added it to my cart it asks me for my membership card (which I don't have)??? How are these people getting the giftcards?

You get the cash card from membership or the register.. but in order to do that you need your costco card to get in. once you obtain the card you may get in side without a costco card.

maybe Costo members are purchasing the gift cards for them?

People who have a Costco membership can buy gift cards to  give to friends as gifts.
