  1. 2, 3 or 4 way means the amount of components (woofer, tweeter etc) in your speaker and the previous respondent is right: buying 3 or 4 way speakers will make the music sound clearer but will do nothing to bass.

I would also like to point out that while coaxials are much cheaper, they don't sound as good as components.

For a comparions between the two, visit: http://www.caraudiohelp.com/newsletter/c...

If I knew what the stock speakers in a 96 grand am was I would be able to provide better help.

From my own experience, if you need:

6 inch speaker - try MTX or JBL fronts

    6 x 9 inch speaker - try JBL GTO

    Components - try JBL Splits

The other suggestions are very good too but I reckon wont be as good value for money.  Go to a car audio shop and have a listen! And buy a deck while your at it hehe

  2. If you are looking for more bass, cheap. Stick with the 2 coaxial type. If you go with the 3 or 4 way, all you are adding is more tweeters. You will defeat any advantages in bass response.

To find them cheap look online at http://www.onlinecarstereo.com  http://www.woofersetc.com  or http://www.sonicelectronix.com

If you can't wait and want it now I would recommend the Infinity or Rockford Fosgate speakers from Best Buy, or the Kickers from Circuit City
