Buying first skateboard, which brand should I buy?

I want to get into skateboarding, it looks so cool and smooth and free. I have no idea which brands are 'cool' and which ones are not. Should my first skateboard be a S****y $20 one or should I go for a more luxurious brand?

go to a skate store like west 49 and get a cheap but good starter deck for beginners for like 50 - 70 bucks

Don't buy a cheap one, as they do not have the same feel as a actual skateboard does. They lack concave and pop. If you are seriously interested in starting to skate, buy a decent skateboard.
