can i buy flowers online from the U.S and get them shipped to Canada?

Three problems with that:

1) Shipping by mail or courier will cost a lot, even for a lightweight bouquet.

2) The flowers will stop at Canada Customs and can be held there for several days. Imagine the poor things getting wilted either from excess heat and no water, or from excess cold in a storage facility.

3) Customs may refuse the shipment due to the fact that it is a plant which may affect the local environment in Canada. For example, if a bug from Southern USA or California hitches a ride on your flowers to Toronto, where it has no natural enemies.

My best recommendation to you is go online to the FTD website. Canada has many florists that are part of the FTD network. They can order a bouquet or arrangement locally from an authorized shop, and you won't have to pay extra costs to get them shipped to Canada in questionable condition.

Hi, actually it doesn't matter from which country you order flowers to Canada.

As soon as you place the order, say in Africa, your order will be transferred to a flower distributor in Canada.  The worker there will then pack your flowers from their cooler, and send them to the destination by a common carrier like Fedex.

I know that many consumers are fooled by this "Fresh from Field" ad, such as ProFlowers'.  But the reality is that most common flowers are constantly being shipped from the growers (Columbia and Ecuador are two dominant players) to distribution centers in each country (Maiami in the US).  They are shipped in boxes containing thousands after thousands of stems.  The flowers then sit at the distribution center, waiting for the order to come.

It's not like, every time an order comes, a grower goes to the field to cut several stems of flowers for you.  That would be a logistical nightmare.
