how do i go about telling my friends that they need to lay off the pop at my house? every time they come over they have one so we'll say 2 people... 2 pops. if they come over 3 days in a week, that's 6 pops. that's half a 12 pack! why can't they drink kool-aid like the rest of our friends!? it drives me insane, but i don't want to seem cheap. it's just we're on a budget and pop isn't cheap. they don't even ask...they just get one! GRRR!

  1. A few different options.

    1.  Encourage them to drink water.  It is better for them and it is a great way to respect your friends by not tempting them with unhealthy things.  When my friends are over, I tend to offer them healthy items first because I want them to be healthy and happy.

    2.  Keep SOME soda in the fridge but keep the rest in storage in a pantry or hidden somewhere else.  If there isn't that much cold soda available to them, they won't have the opportunity to drink it.  If you only have a few cans in there at a time, this could work out quite well for you.

    3.  If it is expensive, don't buy it super often and continue to be willing to share it when it is around.  That way you don't have to worry about your budget or worry about host etiquette issues.

    Good luck!

  2. simple. keep the pop somewhere different, out the way where it cant be seen. they will soon learn that the pop isnt for their eyes, hands or mouths!

  3. Dont buy the soda. or hide it.

  4. If they ask which they probably will, tell them your laying off the soda but we have kool aid.

  5. When they come over before they try to take one just make a random comment about how much money you spent at the grocery store. And say, it was so annoying the pop is so expensive.  Then they will get the hint and not take any.

That way you wont have to hide it everytime your friends come over.

  6. you should hide the pops when they come over and just have the kool-aid ready :)

    hope this helps.

  7. So, when they come hide the pop and just offer them whatever it is you want them to drink.  Seems simple enough.

  8. just explain that you are low on funds and ask them to lay off or suggest a tip jar if they want one they got to pay for one
