So I went to buy skates today and guess what. No where carries ice skates in the town I went to and there is no where else near that does.

I was going to try on both Jacksons and Riedells to see which fit better but obviously that didnt work. So I guess what I am trying to really say is which skates you prefer and where to buy them off the internet.

fyi: I am a beginner.

I went ice skating today again and i just love it but the rentals at my rink have the clasp type of closes instead of the lace ups.

The skates that I am thinking of:

Riedell: Red or Blue Ribbon

Jacksons: Artiste

  1. I personally like Riedell, but it really depends on how it feels on your feet.  I really would not recommend getting skates by ordering them online if you have never tried the skate on in person because the sizes are not the same as normal shoes sizes.  I'm surprised that the rink you skate at doesn't have a proshop that sells skates.  Have you tried asking the people  at the rink where you can get skates?  Oh and make sure you get a pair of hard guards to protect your blades when your not on the ice and a pair of soakers to keep your blades from rusting.  And if you really must buy skates online: http://www.rainbosports.com/.

  2. Hmmm, buying skates online will be difficult unless you know exactly what you are looking for. I wear Jacksons skates, but I went to the store to have them made to fit my foot. Unless you get serious about figure skating, I wouldn't suggest you buy expensive skates. The store I went to is called Dress Wright On Ice. They have on online store too that I can give to you: www.dresswright.com/

  3. Helloo!=) both brands are great, i prefer jackson, and so does most of people in my rink. They say they are great for learning, jackson artiste is a good option for beggining levels, and so are jackson freestyle (they cost a little bit more but they will last you until you start double jumps), jackson classique or mystique.

You could buy it in www.skateforless.com or www.skatebuys.com

I would suggest to ask some skater who has the same brand and ask them their skate size and their shoe size, according to that, you should know what size are your skates. =)

  4. Well i own Rieddell and i love them i would try them out..U can buy them about at any ice skating rink..that's where i got mine.

Well good luck finding ur ice skates!

  5. I definately recommend Jakcson's! I own Jacksons- Glaciers (not the ugly blue padded ones) and they support me for all my figure skating (which is alot). You said you are a beginner, and I think the Artiste is more for actual more advanced figure skating. When your a beginner you don't need all that extra padding, that you would need if you were doing spins, and jumps. You just need basic support. A good place to get skates would be online at the USFSA website.

    Good Luck!
