Buying my boyfriend a guitar, what size, type, etc should I look for?

I think he'll need a full sized one, because he's a fairly large (6'8'') person. I know that cedar tops produce a warmer sound whereas spruce is more concentrated, and I'm pretty sure I want to purchase an electric acoustic. Otherwise, as far as brands and whatnot go I'm not sure where to go. And he's a beginner, so I don't know what's best for that...

Any help you can offer will be great!

Well for a beginner, meaning there is a chance that he will not continue playing, then you would probably want to go with a cheaper guitar.  DONT buy those walmart brand ones.  when i mean cheap  i mean like ibanez or ovation.  They are not the best guitars but are certainly not bad guitar, (and ibanezes look cool too).  OR if you are certain that he will play guitar forever then there is no need to not hold back from getting a rockin guitar. Taylor, Martins, Gibsons are my favorite in that order, but you would obviously be paying a lot, but there is a chance you could find a cheaper one of those somewhere.  So basically it all depends  on your price range.  good luck and i Hope this helps!

Well since he is a beginner just get him something not to high-priced but if you do go to a guitar music store they'll help you out there.
