  1. i have twin tips and i love them i own a pair of salomon flyers and they are vey forgiving. If you are gonna buy twin tips and not do tricks i suggest getting a cheaper pair. Twin tips are a little heavier and are a lot easier to do spins and rails on. If youre just buying them for powder skiing buy some K2s

  2. Twin tips are great! I would definately reccomend them. They are a must have for the terrain park, especially if you plan on doing jumps and landing backwards. They are still fun if you don't do jumps because you can still ski backwards, or "switch" if you get bored or something. Also, since the extra back tip takes away more surface area from the bottom of the ski, they can be a bit more unstable at high speeds so if that is a problem you could get skis that are a bit longer.

  3. Most twin tips are relatively softer than all mountain skis and are not as stable on hard-packed snow. Twin tips were built with freeriders in mind, built to ski backwards and forward and with little pop in the ski so you have a softer landing when you come off a jump in an awkward position. These skis are meant for park & pipe, some are meant for powder but only those with a larger waist.

All mountain skis are more for groomers and hard-packed but are versatile enough to be taken into the park, pipe & powder. If you plan on spending more time in the park and off piece than go for the twin tips. If you plan on staying on the groomers definitely get some all mountain skis.

  4. I love my Salomon 1080 twin tips!  I'm not at the trick-skiing level yet, but these skis make me feel like I could do anything.  You might try demo-ing a few different skis before you pick one.  I tried the Volants and the Volkl twin tips before I went with the Salomons.  The Salomons just felt better than the others for me.

  5. twin tips are curved upwards at the front and back so that you could go forwards and backwards on them, for freestyle skiing and terrain parks.

  6. Twin tips are a design component of snow skis that allows for greater versatility and manueverability on the mountain. In general they allow a skier to ski forwards or backwards on the ski with relative ease. Twin tip skis were developed with big mountain and free ride skiers in mind, they are meant to enable a skier to perform "tricks" on a terrain park or half pipe. However, twin tips are quickly becoming the standard for contemporary ski design and can be found on virtually every type of ski, from alpine, to big-mountain, to telemarking. They will not affect your skiing abilities if you have previously skied on traditional alpine skis, nor will you be limited on the types on terrain you may ski with  pair of twin tips.
