Buying off e-bay?

I want to purchase something from E-bay, but have heard too many horror stories about people getting ripped off. I just wanted to hear other people's opinion of buying off E-bay. Is it reliable? How long did it take for you to receive your item?

You are correct to be concerned.  I have been lucky and have purchased products for as much as $23K [ motor home], down to $40 [ cell phone].  Here's some hints.  1] know your buyer, check his rating.  2] if the deal seems to be to good to be true, it's probably bogus. 3] Does the seller have a "store" on line with other products, that's a positive sign. 4] Use PAYPAL for additional comfort, when paying for your purchase.  My delivery's from good  ebay sellers has always been prompt.

I havent had a problem with Ebay either. I'm pretty pleased with all my past purschaes.  Ive bought cymbals, CDs, guitar pickups & etc off.

With Ebay...you CANT be flaky and get all wishy washy in your business deals.  You have to be 100% it is what you want...then you go and bid on it.  You also have to beware of their "the sellers ratings" and go with that.  Read what other people said about them too...

In my experience, E-bay is pretty reliable.  If you create an account, you can "watch" items, and keep an eye on their prices.  When you're keeping track of them like this, it gives you a chance to look at the credentials of the seller.  If they have numerous good reviews, then they're probably good, but if they have more than one or two bad review, I would not buy from them.

Just check their feedback before buying anything.  I usually have gotten my packages within a week of ordering.

I shop on eBay all the time.  I just try to pick people that have 100% ratings. I have never had a bad experience except maybe a longer shipping time than I was promised.  But usually I get my items in 4 or 5 days after I pay.
