Buying one's food?????

well i still live with my family parents and 2 siblings, and i'm not eating the right type of foods for a 15 year old (and i want to still grow in height, because det can affect my growth right?) because you know my parents are so busy with their career and work, i just want to know wouldn't it be awkward if i just buy my own grocery with my money and not share with them? like im not being selfish its just i want to eat like differently and healthier..... should i tell them first and explain why.........i dont want to sound selfish to them

  1. How about you offer to make dinner some evenings?

That way you can learn about cooking and nutrition. They will probably be pleased as it helps them with their busy schedule.

You'll be in charge and can make some great healthy options and everyone wins?

(Plus you can save your own money for the things you should be spending it on when you're 15!)

  2. Go ahead. You need your nutrition.

  3. I think if my son came to me with that idea, I would be proud of him for taking an initiative to be healthy and I would just ask him to make a grocery list and I'd get it for him, or I'd give him money to go get it.  I think if you explain the situation and your reasons they will support you.

  4. Well, if you want to eat healthier and you're able to do grocery shopping, why not just shop for them? Tell them that you're concerned because you aren't eating healthy foods, then tell them to make a list of what they need, then you'll go shopping and take care of the rest. It can be a bit of a pain sometimes, but they'll be less busy, and your whole family will be eating healthier, and you won't have to buy your own food, so it's a win-win situation.

  5. Martin  that is one of the most mature things I think I've ever heard come out of a 15 year old mouth. If my 15 year old came to me and said I'm on a diet and I'm buying my own food as not to interfere with the families diet I would sit and talk with him to make sure he had all the information correct and then even take him shopping and offer to buy the foods he had selected. I would definitely talk to the food shopper in the house as to have help and get a ride.

    Good Luck with all
